San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon:

Come out and participate in the 10th anniversary of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego. The 26.2 mile course begins in Balboa Park, runs through Hillcrest and skirts the San Diego Zoo. Runners will take an expanded tour of downtown featuring Petco Park, the historic Gaslamp District, and the San Diego Harbor. The course then travels up beautiful Highway 163, and races by the bayside communities, Sea World and ends at the Marine Corps Depot in Point Loma. The Finish Line Festival features live music, refreshments and food. Best of all, there are 26 entertainments stages along each mile of the course!

Course Time Limits: In order to ensure that the roads reopen at the published times, there will be cut off points enforced along the course. These times and locations are as follows:
10:35 am at Mile 13.4 - This reflects a 17:26/mile pace
12:15 pm at Mile 19.2 - This reflects a 17:26/mile pace
Participants not upholding a 17:26/mile marathon pace at mile 13.4 mile will be rerouted to the finish line and complete an 18 mile course. Participants who do not uphold a 17:26/mile marathon pace at mile 19.2 will be stopped and transported to the finish line.

The marathon event is 26.2 miles in length beginning at Bartlett High School and traveling through the eastern foothills and across Anchorage to the West High School finish line. Scenic city bike trails, gravel, rocky, and paved roadways make up this gently rolling to extended downhill course. The race is sanctioned by USA Track and Field and is recognized by the Boston Marathon as a qualifying event. A special award known as the Visitor's Cup is presented to the best performance by an out-of-state female and male. Over 1,900 runners and walkers registered for the 2005 marathon.

Course Time Limits: The race start is at 8:00 a.m. All participants must finish the race by 4:30 p.m.
